Recently when asked about what his experience has been like playing gay characters, Kerr said, "The difference is, on TV my character is just going through the coming out process. In "Hit and Runway" the character already knows what he likes and even can be a little shameless about going after it. It was fun playing someone so different from myself. I’m very ambitious and career oriented whereas Joey’s happy go lucky and easily influenced. The challenge was to play him natural while still making him complex and interesting from moment to moment."
